April 20th, 1999 – Columbine High School, Most people remember where they were that day. Two teenage boys enter their high school with guns and homemade bombs planning to kill hundreds of their classmates. They would murder 12 students and 1 teacher before turning their guns on themselves.
The first student that would die was Rachel Joy Scott. She was eating lunch in a courtyard outside the school when she was shot and wounded by her approaching killers. The killers knew Rachel. They were in classes together, Rachel had her faith in Jesus with them. She was pulled up by her hair and mocked, “Do you still believe in your God?”. With a gun at her head she replied, “you know i do.”
I’m Not Ashamed is Rachel’s story from her own words. Drawn directly from her journals, we discover the hope in this tragedy. We find the story of a student who showed radical compassion to the hurting and unloved. The true story of a girl who boldly shared her love for Jesus to the lost, even to her killers.
I’m Not Ashamed: An Inspiring Story for All Generations
“I’ve always been drawn to hands. I think it’s because it’s the way we touch people,” wrote Rachel Joy Scott in her journal. “If one person could go out of their way to show compassion, it could start a chain reaction.”
After praying, “Father, use my life to touch the world and let your light shine through me,” Rachel’s renewed commitment to Jesus played out compassionately and powerfully at her high school … and around the world.

Cast Quotes
Have you ever gone to the theater to watch a great faith-based movie and wondered if the actors truly believe in the story… and in God? So, we asked key cast members of I’M NOT ASHAMED why they are glad to be part of this incredible story of hope.
“What an honor it is to play a small part in this greatly important film at such a time as this. My prayer is that I AM NOT ASHAMED will reach the world with supernatural impact through the Holy Spirit, for the glory of God, in the name of Jesus!”
Jennifer O’Neill (Linda)
“Working on I’M NOT ASHAMED changed my life. I remember getting the initial audition notice and researching Rachel’s story and instantly knowing in my gut that I had to get a role in the film. I prayed that I would be able to be a part of such an incredible story, and God answered those prayers by blessing me with my favorite project to work on so far. Every single person who worked on this film was not only amazingly talented and kind, they were also dedicated to telling Rachel’s incredible story. We all became a family and, in a way, Rachel was right there with us throughout the whole process. Getting to hold her journals in my hand, meet her mom Beth, and play one of her best friends were all such privileges and periodically brought tears to my eyes. I left set with an amazing gift that I credit to Rachel. I no longer stress or worry about the everyday occurrences or the future because I trust that God’s plan is much bigger than my own.” Taylor Kalupa (Gabby)
“You said as a young girl that your hands will ‘someday touch the hearts of millions.’ Rachel Joy Scott: I can truly say, God used you to touch mine. Getting to know you while filming I’M NOT ASHAMED forever changed me.”
Ben Davies (Nathan)
“Working on I’M NOT ASHAMED was such a breath of fresh air. It showed me just how perfect God’s plan is for our lives. Every single person on that film set has an incredible story and wasn’t ashamed to share just how much God had done for them. I’M NOT ASHAMED was such an encouraging project, and beautiful reminder to stand for everything you believe in and be thankful for the journey and every blessing as well as struggle that you have experienced. ’And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns’ Philippians 1:6.”
Emma Elle Roberts (Celine)
“Being a part of telling the Rachel Joy Scott story has been life changing for me. We loved telling Rachel’s story because her unwavering faith is so inspiring. Her love and kindness was evident in her writings and art; gifts left for us to see her heart after she went to heaven. I appreciate this opportunity and hope those seeing the movie will have their faith deepened through Rachel’s life and testimony.”
Daniel Simpkins (Austin)
“Getting to be a part of this movie was a very unforgettable experience. The first time I read the script I finished in tears and full of joy because it gave me hope. The first thing I thought to myself was, ‘This is how a Christian film should be done, to be real with their audience about life.’ It’s amazing to see the power of God is still working through the testimony of Rachel’s life to impact others. I believe I am one of the many touched by her story.”
Abigail Duhon (Chloe)
“I love how Jesus can take something so tragic and pour His love and grace all over it so that the message is heard loud and clear to all of His children. It was such a great experience because we got to see the love that Rachel had for Jesus and people. It motivated me to love more like Rachel loved. I can’t wait for the release of this movie. God is good all the time! ”
Lauren Brice Crawford (Amy)
“Working on I’M NOT ASHAMED and being a part of telling Rachel’s story was an absolute honor for me. I was inspired every day I was on that set by her courage and faith. God put a special light in Rachel, and I’m in awe of how it still shines brightly to this very day through the people who love her and are inspired by her—and also how it will shine through this film. This film will touch millions of people’s hearts, just like she predicted she would do at 9 years old. Her story will change lives.”
