Stranger Things officially holds the record for most watched series in 2022, according to new data.
Launched on Netflix in 2016, the fantasy/horror series by the Duffer Brothers quickly became a hit on the platform. After a nearly three-year wait since the previous season, the fourth season of Stranger Things was released on Netflix last year, following Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Will (Noah Schnapp), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Max (Sadie Sink), Hopper (David Harbour) and the rest of the group as they take on Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).
The last season was highly praised by critics and kicked off the 5th season, the last of the series, which still does not have a premiere date.
According to new data (via Variety), Stranger Things was officially last year’s most-watched series, recording a staggering 52 billion minutes watched. NCIS comes in second with 38.1 billion minutes watched and Cocomelon, a children’s series, is third with 37.8 billion minutes watched. Another Netflix original, Ozark, ranks fourth with 31.3 billion.
