Kalyan Ram’s Amigos Movie Review and Story

Kalyan Ram is an actor who always tries to come up with different and interesting concepts to please the audience. Following last year’s success with Bimbisara, the actor returns with his latest film, Amigos, which opens today. Let’s see how this movie turns out.

Review

Kalyan Rams Amigos is a bold and experimental move following the success of Bhimbisara. Based on the concept of a doppelganger, director Rajendra Reddy weaves a thriller out of Kalyan Ram’s performance.

The actors seem to be at home, playing different roles and doing a good job. Shadows of his Bimbisara character are reflected in his portrayal of Bipin Roy, a self-absorbed monster who will stop at nothing to get what he wants.

He also plays shy software clerk Manjunath with ease and son and lover Siddharth. But when all those characters get mixed up, the lines blur. Brahmaji plays an important role throughout the film. Ashika Ranganath has limited screen time throughout all the action, but her presence is felt.

Despite its experimental nature, the film comes across as a commercial entertainer with action, comedy and some fan service. The song ‘Enno ratrulu vastai…’, a rehash of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s popular hit from Dharma Kshetram, is one such example.

It is entertaining and gets whistles, but it doesn’t really aid the script. Kalyan Ram’s portrayal of Bipin stands out from the rest as he made it look stylish and menacing. The plot becomes intriguing and thrilling as Bipin’s past as Indian Pablo Escobar is revealed in layers. But, despite certain highs, the latter part of the film feels like a stretch. A little more engagement could have served well.

Music composer Ghibran‘s BGM helped elevate the script, and cinematographer Soundarajan did a great job of bringing the three stand-ins together. Saptagiri, Jayaprakash, Mathyu Vargees, Rajeev Pillai, Ravi Prakash, Sivannarayana, Chaitanya Krishna, Raghu Karumanchi, Manik Reddy, Gabbarsingh Sai, Sridhar, Ashokan Vincent, Nithin, Kalyani Natrajan, Rajasri Nair, Pranavi, Sonakshi Varma, Subhasria, Khoolet , Sohail, Nainisha, Shiva and Guru play supporting roles.

Overall, Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s acting skills and the presence of action and comedy elements make this action thriller partially successful. His Bipin portal stands out. It’s not a perfect movie, but it’s good enough to keep the audience engaged.
